Nintendo is certainly acting as Santa this holiday season. After announcing the release of Super Mario Run for iOS this December, Nintendo is all set to give you yet another amazing surprise.

The company has today outlined its plans for Super Nintendo World at Universal theme parks. The first theme park is expected to open by 2020, at the time of Tokyo Olympics in Universal Studios Japan. This means you’ll have the chance to interact with your favorite childhood characters — Mario and Luigi in real life. They’ll be surrounding you in a brand-new world, Yay!

The news doesn’t end here. Nintendo says that the all new theme park would be expansive, immersive and interactive. It would include shops and restaurants along with the game related attractions. You would feel as if you are inside of the Mario World. The themed park is a result of previously  publicized partnership between  between Universal Parks & Resorts and Nintendo. As per the official site of Nintendo, the theme park would be coming to Universal Studios Japan, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.

The development cost for the Super Nintendo World is said to be over 50 billion yen, though it is far far less than the approximate revenues of 11.7 trillion yen. The opening of the park is set at the time of Olympics which will further boost up the revenues for the company. (smart move Nintendo) Moreover, it would create much needed employment vacancies for hundreds of people of Japan.

In a press release Nintendo stated,

Super Nintendo World will feature characters and themes from the Super Mario series, which has continued over the years to win the hearts of devoted fans around the world.

The attraction area will also feature a variety of other globally popular Nintendo characters. Super Nintendo World will allow guests to fully immerse themselves and all five senses in the worlds of Nintendo, and is expected to attract guests from Japan and the world over.

The first look of the theme park was shown off by Nintendo of America via Twitter which consists of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Bowser’s castles. Finally Mario is coming to our world! I wanna race against Luigi in Mario Kart in the real life!
