Nexus 6, which Google announced almost 3 weeks ago, is now (finally) listed on Play Store’s India website. The latest flagship starts at ₹ 44,000 for the 32 GB model and ₹49,000 for the 64 GB model.

The affordable smartphone sports a 5.96-inch QHD AMOLED display with 2560×1440 pixel resolution and 493 ppi pixel density. The device is powered by a 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor paired with 3GB RAM and Adreno 420 GPU. On the camera front it has a 13-megapixel rear snapper, and a 2-megapixel shooter upfront. It packs an impressive 3,220mAh battery and runs on Android 5.0 out-of-the-box.

While Google’s Nexus series has been hugely popular in India, the new Nexus 6 may just not enjoy the same popularity as its predecessors. If that happens, this will partly be because of the flood of low-cost, high-end smartphones in India’s glutted smartphone market, and partly because of Google’s own pricing strategies.

Google’s pricing, for the current Nexus devices, though justified by the configuration they pack in, fails to fall into the affordable category any more, something which formed the very basis of introducing Nexus phones and tablets.

As for the availability, there is still no official word on the same, but expect the device to be available, sometime towards November end.
