Apple’s proposed media event, its first after the September event held last year, is scheduled for March 15, according to 9to5Mac. As the event is still a month and a half away, the possibility of the event shifting to another date is probable.
At the event, Apple is stipulated to raise curtains on three major products. These include the new 4-inch iPhone 5se, the iPad Air 3, and new Apple Watch band options
Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to unveil the updated 9.7 inch iPad Air along with the other two major releases at the event. Apple has kept the standard 9.7 inch size of the iPad intact even for this new version. The new iPad Air is most likely to get upgraded on the hardware to match the iPad mini and iPad Pro that were released in the brief time.
But perhaps the biggest draw at the event will be the 4-inch iPhone 5se, which is Apple’s last attempt to revamp the iPhone 5s. The 4-inch model of the iPhone has already led to some mixed reactions from users and critics alike. The replacement to iPhone 5s is reported to include A9 chip, support to Apple Pay, and updated hardware, including the camera, which will now support Live Photos.
With the hardware updated, the 4-inch avatar of iPhone 5s is set to resemble the overall design of the original mode. The news first broke out in late 2013 that Apple was revamping the iPhone 5s with a new model. Now that it’s confirmed, many are speculating whether the upcoming iPhone 7 will have a 4-inch size.
But rumours aside, that will not be the case, as this is Apple trying to experiment with design and user choice with the new ‘experimental’ model. The other mystery surrounding the iPhone 5se is its suffix. Though the device was codenamed as N69, its model name has been christened as iPhone 5se. The ‘se’ might stand for a ‘special edition’ of the iPhone 5s or can also mean ‘enhanced’ version of the model.
The smartphone is expected to be priced along the lines of the iPhone 5s at $450 for 16GB variant. Apple is also expected to reveal a 64GB variant for the 4-inch iPhone 5se.
Last but not the least in the line of the new product launches at the event is a minor update to the Apple Watch . Apple’s smartwatch will probably see the inclusion of new bands, and an upgraded software, if not more at the event. The Apple Watch will soon sport new colours on its Sport bands, and is expected to get a new black variant for the new Milanese Loop band.
