Adding to the series of 5G flagship launches happening at MWC in Barcelona this year is ZTE’s Axon 10 Pro 5G. Coming in from one of the early movers in 5G tech, the Axon 10 Pro joins a series of 5G ready smartphones launched in MWC this time, including those from Samsung, Huawei, OnePlus among others.

Of course, like all the other devices, its Qualcomm which is powering ZTE’s 5G tech as well. Powered by the flagship Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform along with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem and an AI Performance Engine, the ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G supports sub 6G spectrum ranges.

However, what does set ZTE apart from other OEMs, is the advantage of manufacturing its own 5G equipment. And as a direct result of the same, the Chinese phone maker has already tied up with the likes of China Unicom, Elisa and Hutchison Drei Austria, to make the Axon 10 Pro 5G available in Europe and China in the first half of 2019.

Stating the advantage of manufacturing its own 5G equipment, ZTE CEO Xu Feng said, “Terminals are an important part of ZTE’s end-to-end layout of 5G applications. Along with the commercial launch of the world’s first 5G network, ZTE is pioneering the launch of the first 5G flagship smartphone, which perfectly combines 5G core technologies with the ultimate user experience,”

There’s a lot of proprietary tech that has been bundled into the Axon 10 Pro by ZTE. The smartphone implements a fully self-developed, full-band antenna design to achieve full coverage of 2G/3G/4G/5G. This effectively improves system performance by reducing signal interference. In addition, the Axon 10 Pro applies a new slot antenna and adjustable antenna architecture solution to ensure the best RF signal by automatically identifying user usage scenarios.

Apart from the all the 5G tech that we have talked, the usuals of a flagship are all present in the Axon 10 Pro. The phone applies AI to deliver a diverse set of functions such as an AI triple-camera, AI motion capture, AI scene recognition, AI portrait lighting adjustment, AI user behavior learning and AI everywhere.

ZTE is deploying 5G terminal tests and is in cooperation with mainstream carriers in 8 countries around the world.
