galaxy s8 active

As you can see in the image attached above, we aren’t in for a treat with the rugged version of the Galaxy S8. The Korean behemoth seems to be opting out of including that gorgeous ‘Infinity display‘ in the Galaxy S8 Active. It will instead sport a much bulkier body with no dual-curved edges, which were the highlight of the flagship devices unveiled earlier in March 2017.

Much like every, there’s no doubting the fact that Samsung is not working on an active iteration of the Galaxy S8 for those people who like it keep of rough. The Galaxy S8 Active device, model number SM-G892A, is close to an official unveiling as the device has been spotted on Wireless Power Consortium’s website. It is the same organization which is responsible for the Qi wireless charging standard.

According to a previous report, the device is codenamed Cruise and is expected to be an AT&T exclusive offering. And speculations about the screen that we discussed in the said report have proven true. This robust smartphone is getting rid of the edge screens to provide more durability to the Galaxy S8 Active. Samsung is switching back to the previous flat-screen design, which stretches across the front of the device, is rounded at the edges (not the sides) and resembles the LG G6.

As for the specifications, we’re currently considering Samsung will keep most of the features intact such as the 5.8-inch AMOLED display, a 10nm processor (be it their Exynos 8895 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 835), a 12-MP rear shooter and an 8-MP front lens. The battery will still continue to be on the lower side, around 3500 mAh, due to last year’s accidents. Being the rugged version of a gorgeous device, it will be IP68 dust and water resistant and presumably compliant with the MIL-STD-810G standard of durability, suggest SamMobile.

Much like every year, we could witness the launch of Galaxy S8 Active in the coming month. Samsung is known to debut their rugged devices in the month of June in partnership with one or the either telecom carrier. Stay tuned for more updates on this device.
