nokia 3310

Ever since the announcement of new Nokia-branded devices at MWC 2017, we’ve been eagerly waiting for the return of these phones, which include Nokia 3310 and three Android phones, to the market for the past couple months. And now, it seems that day is actually here.

Nokia Mobile’s official Twitter has shared the following tweet containing a video, which instantly attracts eyeballs towards itself. The caption in the tweet reads that the iconic and sturdy Nokia 3310 has made a comeback after an excruciatingly long 17 years. Then, the tweet mentions that this feature phone starts shipping today — which falls in line with some reports about the release schedule.

This is currently the only info we’re hanging our hopes onto for the official availability of the Nokia 3310 — when this tweet could well be a premature mistake. We have contacted the company and are awaiting more info on its shipping details from Finnish smartphone maker HMD Global, who is manufacturing the Nokia-branded phones.

As for the device itself, the Nokia 3310 has been reimagined with a modern and colorful twist — especially with a dash of Nostalgia. It has replaced the monochrome screen on the original model with a bright new color screen. The feature phone also brings along a few modern upgrades such as Bluetooth, Camera, MicroSD card, app store and much more. It has an astounding 22-hour talk-time and month long battery standby time. It will be available in four distinctive colors — red, yellow, blue and gray.

The rumor mill has been churning out deeds about the launch of Nokia-branded devices on the regular. Earlier last week, it had been suggested that HMD Global will start shipping its feature phone very soon – and here we are. It also added that Nokia 3310 will first be made available in European countries, such as Germany, Austria, Sweden, Czech Republic and Norway. It will be going for around 49 to 59 euros, according to info from retailers.

There is presently no info on when the Nokia 3310 will reach the Indian market, which was once considered a sprawling ground for the Finnish company. The masses have been waiting not only for the release of this redesigned, but iconic feature phone, but also its Android-powered smartphones — Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 as well.

There are several reports going around, which suggest HMD Global will shed light on Nokia’s India-specific roadmap on May 8. If that’s actually true, let’s hang on tight and wait another couple days for the event. Earlier, it has been reported that HMD Global is going to release Nokia 3310 in June in India, followed by the Android smartphones later in Q2 2017.
