Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, the latest flagship smartphones, which went on sale last month, were reported to have some display issues. Many users reported about a red-colored tint in the display when they received their pre-rodered devices.

Now, the Korean hardware giant is rolling out an update for the Galaxy S8 lineup in the Indian market to fix the display related issues. Interestingly, the update is being rolled out, even when the smartphones have not been launched in the country yet.

The company announced Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in India on 19th April. The Galaxy S8 is priced at ₹57,900, while the Galaxy S8+ costs ₹64,900. Both the smartphones will go on sale, starting May 5.

The new firmware version is XXU1AQDG and the update is available over the air (OTA) for both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.  The update is reportedly quite large in size for a fix to optimize display’s color tone. This could mean that along with the optimization for the display tone, the company has also added few performance enhancements and other improvements in the update.

This update offers users an additional setting in the Adaptive Display screen mode. Users can manage the Full screen color balance as they see fit. Any settings changes made under Adaptive Display will then be available in all other screen option versions.

Some reports suggests that the red tint has not completely gone away even after applying the new update. However, it has been optimized and setting the color tone to cool reduces the reddish hue to a good extent.

When Samsung started shipping its flagship smartphones, we started getting reports about a “reddish” tint on the display. While the issue was limited to some early adopters, it was significant enough to warrant a response from Samsung.

The company had them said that it would distribute a software update for the Galaxy S8 to fix the issue. The update was described to regulate the color balance of the device, which will restore white tones and increase the color range for users who want to manually tweak the appearance of their device’s screen. Samsung reiterated that there was no quality issue with the new smartphones.
