UPDATE: While we had to officially wait two weeks to download the Creators Update, but Microsoft has announced that  — no, you wouldn’t. In an official blog post, the Redmond giant stated it will make Windows 10 Creators Update available through its Update Assistant, so anyone who is using a licensed version of Windows 10 can install it one week ahead of the official rollout. Woo-hoo!!

PREVIOUSLY: Two weeks! Exactly two weeks is the duration of time you’ll have to wait for the much-awaited release of the next major update of the Windows 10 operating system. Microsoft has today taken to its official blog to announce that Windows 10 Creators Update will begin shipping to users on April 11.

And as expected, this will be a free upgrade for every current Windows 10 user but will roll out in stages worldwide. The desktop users will have the first crack the new major update, followed by laptop and mobile users respectively. And the update, for those unaware, is focused on the human self —  their power to dream, experiment,  and get creative. This also serves as the justification for the naming of this update.

Making the said announcement, Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate VP of Windows and Devices Group said,

The Creators Update is designed to spark and unleash creativity, bringing 3D and mixed reality to everyone and enabling every gamer to be a broadcaster. Beyond creativity, it brings new features to Microsoft Edge, additional security capabilities and privacy tools, and so much more.

As for the reasons this Windows 10 update is so important, Microsoft is laying immense focus on creativity and playful attitude with the Creators Update. And that is surely reflected in the features, such as the new Paint 3D that’ll enable you to create your drawings completely in three dimensions if you desire. It will also include improvements to Xbox gaming with native Beam integration, the creation of custom tournaments, and Game Mode to enhance your gaming experience. There are other significant upgrades that’ve been added to ensure an all-around excellent performance.

Well, this is great news, but if you’re interested in getting your hands on the final build of the upcoming Creators Update immediately then Microsoft is already providing you an option to download ISO image files for the same. While Redmond hasn’t confirmed, and it might never, that Insider preview build 15063 is the RTM (Ready to Manufacturing) version for Windows 10 Creators Update, but we believe that it definitely is. The settings page has now nixed the Insider build tag and now only hold the official version number of this update.

And for those completely aloof, let us remind you about Microsoft’s current strategy with Windows 10 and its following updates. The Redmond giant once considered Windows operating system as the center of attention, releasing a new feature-packed iteration for a price every year. But, it has now moved on to adopt a Windows 10-as-a-service model, where it releases over-the-air updates for their existing operating system. Microsoft no longer releases an updated iteration, with a new number each year like they used to do earlier.
