samsung, gear s3, tizen

Samsung has announced a brand new version of the Gear S3 Classic smartwatch. The new version comes equipped with state of the art LTE technology that will allow the Classic to come up with  broadband capabilities identical to the Gear S3 Frontier. The announcement makes the Gear S3 all that more desirable as compared to the other wearable options out there.

The announcement coincides very nicely with Samsung’s Galaxy S8 reveal, which is expected to take place near the end of the month. While not directly related with the same, it will help in the buildup of hype and bring attention to the brand.

Meanwhile, the new smartwatch isn’t particularly new in other aspects. It focuses upon giving fans the ultra traditional look with additional 4G capabilities. Previously, only the Frontier version had LTE capabilities. Both the Gear S3 models still run Samsung’s very own Tizen operating system. This is in contrast to the Android Wear platform that is preferred by most smartwatches — except Apple of course.

Spec wise, the device comes with a 360*360, always on display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The device is powered by a dual-core, 1.0 GHz platform. The device packs 4 GB of internal memory and 768 MB of RAM. Along with the usual connectivity options, you also get MST and NFC for payments. The 380 mAh battery should take you through most of a day and packs wireless charging capabilities.

The device is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.
