For content hoarding individuals, SD card is one of the most prominent resources. And Sony has today decided to go ahead and cater to their needs with the launch of the world’s fastest SD cards. The new, upcoming SF-G series of SD cards by the Japanese behemoth are said to provide maximum read/write speeds.

These SD cards come as a boon for photography and content hoarding individuals, who require speed and efficiency off their SD card. The said series is not wrong in making the claim that it is the fastest SD card in the world. It offers read and write speeds of 300MB per second and 299 MB per second respectively. The read speed is also one of the fastest and will enable transfer of large volumes and file sizes of data to or from the computer very quickly.

Commenting on the release, Viviano Cantu, VP of Product Marketing, Sony Americas Media and Energy Group says,

As the continuous shooting of higher-resolution images and adoption of 4K video with DSLR and mirrorless cameras increases, the inherent need for larger, faster and more dependable cards becomes apparent. Sony has met these growing demands with the debut of the SF-G Series, which offers industry leading performance.

Since the Japanese technology giant lays emphasis mainly on speed and photography (because it has its own range of cameras), thus, the SD cards come with support for the UHS-II interface. This means the card adds a secondary row of connecting pins which enable the high-speed transfers on compatible devices.

In addition, the SD card has also been optimised to offer the maximum performance on digital imaging devices. It will easily be able to handle quick-shooting cameras as it contributes to a shorter buffer clearing time. Thus, you will never miss a picture perfect moment. Also, the said SD cards from feature algorithms that prevent the decrease of data-writing speed. This also contributes to the speedy capture of photographs — enabling successive high-speed shooting.

The SD cards from this new SF-G series are available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB sizes. Sony has decided to release the SD cards in Spring of this year. The photography buffs will have to wait until then to be able to transfer large RAW image files from their cameras to the computer instantly. To further ease the transfer process, Sony is debuting a specialised card reader as well.
