Widely popular video streaming website YouTube suffers from two really frustrating flaws. The first being the ads that stream before the actual video and other being buffering issues. However, buffering issue majorly relates to the speed of your internet, a consumer has no control over the ads displayed. One usually loses interest in the video due to these long commercials and rather skips to other ad-less platforms.

Understanding the concerns of its subscribers, YouTube released YouTube Red for a charge. The extended source charges an annual fee and offers video streaming without ad interruptions. Though it provides an advantage over YouTube, it has not been able to gain much popularity.

YouTube is known to show ads that can be skipped after the first 5 seconds of watching but there are unskippable 30-second commercials as well. That is a lot of time to spend watching an advert, especially for an on-the-go generation. To ease the issue, YouTube today announced that it will conclude servicing such long commercials the next year. Ah! no more lengthy teasers to watch!

Though the good news has been hailed by the video site, it’ll still stick with short and precise formats provided by media companies. The same are being kept to go on with the revenues generated via marketing. Validating the favorable changes, a YouTube spokesperson said,

We’re committed to providing a better ads experience for users online. As part of that, we’ve decided to stop supporting 30-second unskippable ads as of 2018 and focus instead on formats that work well for both users and advertisers.

Moreover, a UK publication, Campaign confirmed the updates publicizing that YouTube will make more extensive use of the six-second unskippable video ad instead. The mag further noted the possibility of the company transforming these 30 second unskippable into after 5 seconds skippable ad format. The move will certainly make other companies mull over a new tactic to beat this one.
