BookEventz, an online event booking platform, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in its latest round, led by Mumbai Angels with Girish Mathrubootham and Anbu Pandian. Few other angel investors have also participated in this round which was raised through LetsVenture.

Earlier, the company had raised its second funding round at seed stage in December 2015. This round was also led by Mumbai Angels with participation from Singapore Angel Network and Zishaan Hayath (PLV).

Commenting on this new funding round, Shanti Mohan, founder of LetsVenture said,

BookEventz is creating a marketplace to make event bookings easy, quick and efficient by providing comprehensive, end-to-end event planning solutions. The company is seeing tremendous growth and the founders’ vision is to make BookEventz India’s largest event booking platform.

Investor in this round,  Ishan Singh, Partner – Vidyut Furnaces, said,

Co-founders Shriti and Harsh have shown that they can stay the course and have executed on the plan they first shared with us and have met revenue/GMV milestones. They continue to leverage technology and innovative ways to strengthen their positioning as a technology partner for venues. I am happy to continue on their board and support their growth. This is a real business that solves a pain point and uses technology to automate processes.

BookEventz was founded in 2012 by Shriti Chhajed and Harsh Baid. Earlier, the company was known as UrbanRetroz but later on, they changed it to BookEventz. It claims to be India’s first online venue booking platform which enables individuals and companies to book all their F&B requirements online – from restaurant reservations and party bookings to organizing unique culinary experiences.

The platform is currently active in 11 cities, including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Goa. The company claims to have served more than 73,000 event enquiries, booked over 5000 events with GMV of over Rs. 50 crore.

In this space, BookEventz will compete against some well established event ticketing platforms such as Explara, MeraEvents, KyaZoonga, etc.
