BedBathMore.com, which claims to be India’s first dedicated online shopping portal in the home furnishings and lifestyle segment is planning unveil a new brand identity in the coming week, as it has acqui-hired Homado.com, a marketplace for interior designers.

The company will now focus more on building content, community and e-commerce. Along with focus on providing innovative products, the company will also revamp its website to reflect its new ethos. BedBathMore.com is backed by Mr, Vijay Agarwal, who is the Founder & Chairman of the Creative Group of companies and early stage Venture Capital firm, Blume Ventures.

As a part of its ongoing revamp plans, BedBathMore has acquired the operational team of eight people at Homado, along with business assets that include a database of 3,000 service providers, intellectual property, technology, and other relevant assets around it.

Post the acquisition, Homado.com’s community of close to 3,000 architects and interior designers have been integrated into the existing offerings of BedBathMore.com. By December 2015, this number is likely to exceed 10,000 architects and designers. BedBathMore.com will continue to acqui-hire more entities and get into many more of such strategic partnerships in the coming months to further enhance it’s offering.

As a part of the deal, Anupam Sinhal, co-founder of Homodo will also join BedBathMore’s management team in a leadership role as a Senior Vice President.

BedBathMore was formed by Amit Dalmia with the sole objective of bringing the best in home furnishing in a digital setting to discerning Indian shoppers who love their homes. It will now offer end-to-end home solutions. The consumer’s interaction will begin with curated content on home décor, which will be created by a team of editorial experts. It will also have engaging user generated content.

During the last fiscal, BedBathMore claims to have clocked an increase in revenues from the web platform by 215%, along with strong growth for its private labels. It is expecting growth of 300% over the coming fiscal.

An acquisition in the home furnishings market on similar lines was also witnessed when Housing.com acquired real-estate community platform Indian Real Estate Forum for $1.2 Million.
