Google Nest

Tuesday was marked with a series of big announcements from Google and in the series the company stated that they will be rolling out a newer version of Nest Aware subscription with new features and simplified pricing. This will be happen in 2020, however the final dates are yet to be revealed from the company.

Nest Aware has been available for $5, $10, or $30 per month as as a premium subscription for its Nest security cameras since 2015. This provided its subscribers with 24/7 video surveillance, access to the video recordings with many alert features. However, to install another Nest Camera, users typically had to avail all these features with some discounted subscription price per camera.

Google agreed that in its current for the Nest Aware’s pricing was confusing and expensive. It is for this reason that the company will revamp its service pricing structure to two tiers now, namely Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus, priced at $6/month and $12/month respectively. The new pricing will also cover all the installed cameras under one monthly fee.

With $6 a month, Aware will give you access to 30 days of “event video history,” which are the videos recorded when the device detects any motion or sound in vicinity. With $12/month, you get 60-day access to the same data in addition to 10 days of 24/7 video footage.

Though the plans does appear a bit expensive in comparison to the $3 or $10 per month subscription plans of Amazon Ring Protect, or Arlo’s $2.99, $9.99, and $14.99 per month, it is noteworthy that the cheapest plans of both these companies only cover one camera per subscription.

Nest Aware will also include Nest and Google Home speakers and displays, as the subscription will offer its customers extended protection for when smoke or carbon monoxide alarms beep. If you believe that the alarm is because of an emergency, Google will also dial 911 through the Home app calling in the nearest help.
