Vision To Learn

Mark Zuckerberg is engaging is another one of his philanthropic acts. The Facebook CEO has announced that his foundation, the Chan Zuckerberg initiative, will be partnering with non-profit Vision To Learn in a bid to provide students across the US with eye care.

Vision To Learn is a non-profit that seeks to help children fro low income communities, who are suffering from corrective vision loss. The organization operates through the following fours steps:

  • Schools and partner organizations conduct vision screenings and identify children with visual challenges.
  • Vision To Learn’s Mobile Eye Clinic visits each school or community site to conduct exams.
  • Our optometrists and opticians conduct free eye exams and fit children for free eyeglasses. Because the students pick out their own frames, it’s a fun experience!

With help from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which can take a financial form, the Vision To Learn foundation will be able to continue and expand its on going activities.

Announcing the same through a blog post, Zuckerberg said:

Uplifting moment of the day: the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is partnering with Vision To Learn to provide free eye exams and glasses to many of the 2 million students in our country who have correctable vision but no access to eye care. There are few simple things that are guaranteed to have a positive effect on children’s education and life trajectory. This is one of them.

The Vision To Learn foundation also responded stating that:
