Microsoft today unveiled a new Windows 10 preview with some new features along with added improvements. The upgrades have been included into the settings section whereas the chief additions include a fresh new feature of PDF reader along with Windows Defender Application Guard for enterprise users.

Unlike its predecessors, the Windows 10 is a service designed in a very different way and is capable of being upgraded with new features as well. Microsoft has rolled out many such updates and the most prominent ones include November’s update,Anniversary update and Creator’s update.

The big news is that Windows 10 users will no longer be compelled to install the Adobe reader, as Edge’s PDF  built-in PDF Reader is all set to become better than ever:

  • PDF Form filling: One may now fill in PDF based forms directly in Edge to save, and print them.
  • PDF Annotations: One may now annotate PDFs as well, by the use of “Make a Web Note” button on the top right, which invokes an annotations bar. Inking, highlighting text, and erasing the annotations are all supported now.
  • Table of Contents: While going through some longer documents, one can now use the Table of Contents on the left of the PDF toolbar for easier navigation.
  • Better viewing and navigation: It is now supported to rotate PDF documents, adjust the reading layout from one page to two pages layouts, and change to page-wise scrolling for better navigation and readability.

Working on the announcements of September 2016, the Windows Defender Application Guard for Microsoft Edge is finally available for testers. The Application guard for Edge provides enterprises with maximum level of protection from malware and zero day attacks against Windows. To invoke it, simply turn on the Windows Defender Application Guard using the “Turn Windows features on or off” dialog to open Edge and further click on the Edge menu and choose “New Application Guard window.” Any site surfed  will be isolated in Application Guard.

A handful of changes have been made in Windows settings as well. A Ninjacat icon is now available to represent the Windows Insider Program to represent the Windows Insider Program, Cortana’s settings will now be seen in the main Settings app, and the Magnifier Settings page has been redesigned and includes some extra features now.

The following bug fixes and upgrades have been incorporated:

  • Fixed some issues causing  the candidate window to not appear when typing in certain apps when using Simplified Chinese IMEs or the Changjie and Quick IMEs.
  • Fixed the issue where explorer.exe would crash and restart if one tapped on any of the apps listed in the Windows Ink Workspace’s Recent Apps section.
  • The double-click on the Windows Defender Security Center icon in the notification area will now open Windows Defender Security Center.
  • Universal dismiss of Cortana reminders has been enabled across Windows devices on this build or higher.
  • Localized apps on localized x64 Windows 10 Insider Preview builds will now function.
  • Fixed the problem resulting in decreased Action Center reliability in recent flights.
  • Fixed the problem with the Chinese Pinyin IME where typing a sequence of characters beginning with ‘hu’ into certain apps would result in an unexpected delay before the candidate window updated to reflect the current composition.

The build has the following eight problems:

  • PC Reset via Settings > Update & security > Recovery will not work on non-English Insider Preview builds.
  • Some Insiders have seen this error “Some updates were cancelled. We’ll keep trying in case new updates become available in Windows Update.”
  • Surface 3 devices decline to update to new builds if a SD memory card is inserted. The updated drivers for the Surface 3 that fix this issue have not yet been published to Windows Update.
  • Navigating to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update may crash Settings app. You can simply re-open the Settings app again and it should work again.
  • Navigating to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen may crash Settings app.
  • Outlook 2016 may hang on launch due to a problem where the spam filter gets stuck reading the Outlook Data File and the UI waits indefinitely for it to return.
  • Your PC may hang when shutting it down.
  • In certain cases, Start may fail to launch at first but will launch normally on the second try.

Microsoft has also unveiled a new build of Windows 10 Mobile today, which a little shocking considering the stature of Microsoft’s smartphone market.
