Press around the world has just received an invitation for a major press conference from Microsoft and something big is being anticipated. Minimal details have been provided regarding the “Learn What’s Next” event which is being held on May 2 in the New York City. Considering the name of the event and the catchy #MicrosoftEDU hashtag, it can be prophesied that the event will be focused on Microsoft’s next big venture in the field of education.

This January, the company announced Intune for Education which is a cloud based application and device management service which offers easy setup and management in shared learning environments. Chromebooks have been another massive success in U.S. schools n the recent few years, and the credit goes to its efficient management system, which lets IT departments control and configure a slew of devices all at once. The same also facilitates device swapping between students without privacy or security compromises.

Another reason behind Chromebooks high sale rate is its pricing, and in order to combat its dominance the company has promised to offer $189 Windows 10 systems. The event could possibly be a continuation to this news, where Microsoft broadcasts the offerings of its own, all-in-one education system which could battle against Google’s very popular segment.

Rumors are that both hardware and software are quite likely to make their presence felt at the event on the second of May, however TechCrunch has reported that the presence of a Surface Phone or new Surface Pro is “highly unlikely.”

So, the whole event is probably going to be similar to the recent Windows 10 Creator Update event in NYC, although, lesser emphasis will be given to the contemporary consumer electronics hardware department. Moreover, the press conference is likely to be rather more inclined towards the solutions designed to emphasize on the education sector. For further information, we are  simply going to have too wait a bit longer.
