As announced today, the driving force behind India’s BPO industry, Raman Roy has been appointed as the new Chairman of National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) for the year 2017-18. NASSCOM being an established trade association of Indian IT and Business Process Outsourcing industry took a strategically fit step, considering Raman who is currently the CEO of his VC-funded BPO company Quatrro.

Raman is an industry veteran and has been the primary catalyst of its exponential growth in the last few decades. NASSCOM hopes to gain huge insights from his wealth of experience in global and domestic markets. He is deeply involved in shaping the future of the Business Process Management Industry in India, China, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and the Caribbean Region through its venture Quatrro, launched to focus on innovation in the BPM industry.

As the organisation’s chairman, he will focus on India’s innovation edge which is his key priority among other strategies. Along with NASSCOM team, he plans to help scale start-ups and the centre of excellence initiatives to the next level. The latter looks forward to accelerating momentum on all initiatives currently under the organisation’s spectrum.

Roy will hold the office w.e.f April 6th, 2017. He is taking over CP Gurnani, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tech Mahindra. Speaking on his appointment as the Chairman, Roy said,

It is a great honour to be given this opportunity at a time when industry is at the next phase of its maturity and evolution. NASSCOM is playing a critical role in evangelizing the digital opportunity for the sector and I would like to support the industry in facilitating the skilling and reskilling effort of the industry through disruptive models. 

Along with christening Roy as the Chairman, Rishad Premji, Chief Strategy Officer & Member of the Board, Wipro Limited has been elected as the Vice Chairman of NASSCOM for the year 2017-18. Both of them will assist the organisation in achieving its vision for 2020 by exploring and tapping potential fields of growth and development.

They will aid in carrying out diversified priorities for NASSCOM such as showcasing the importance of global skilled labour mobility, navigating new policy requirements and evangelising skilling and re-skilling of talent, to help the continuity of business. Welcoming Rishad as the Vice President, R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM said,

A new age leader like Rishad, with his vast exposure, will bring fresh ideas to the table, helping the industry tap new domains and opportunities globally.
