Rocket Internet, in a bid to ramp up its focus in Asia, announces its first engineering hub in the region. Rocket Internet has already established engineering hubs in  two more locations – Berlin, the location of its global HQ, and at Portugal.

The Asia Pacific Internet Group (APACIG), Rocket Internet’s Joint Venture with Ooredoo, has set up its new tech headquarters in Thailand.

The tech hub based in Bangkok, will be led by Sohil Gilani, Chief Product Officer, and Alex Stansfield, Head of Engineering, both experts who joined the group recently. It will be responsible for product development & technical operations of the companies within the APACIG portfolio which includes hotel platform Zenrooms, travel-booking site Jovago as well as leading classifieds sites such as Everjobs, and Ads.com.

Currently, around 20 product managers, developers and system engineers are working out of Bangkok. Gilani and Stansfield aim to increase the number of employees significantly by the end of 2017.

Sohil Gilani adds,
