After the success of its Redmi Note 3 smartphone, Xiaomi has today launched its successor Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in India. The smartphone, which will be available exclusively via Flipkart, starts at Rs. 9,999. It will be available for purchase from 24th January.

The phone is not a big upgrade to its predecessor, in terms of specifications. It comes with an all-metal design, measuring around 8.4mm in thickness. At its thinnest edge, it measures just 5mm. It also has bottom firing speakers and a fingerprint sensor below the camera setup on the back.

The smartphone flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD display, with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 2.5D curved glass on top. While the original model launched in China has a Mediatek processor, the Indian variant comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor. This model will also be available globally, as announced by Xiaomi on stage.

Under the hood, Redmi Note 4 is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor, and an Adreno 506 GPU. Xiaomi claims that this device has the best-in-class thermal performance. It will be made available in three variants — 2GB RAM with 32GB internal storage; 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage; and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage.

On the photography front, it sports a 13-megapixel rear facing CMOS camera sensor with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and BSI sensor. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture and a beautification mode.

While the Redmi Note 4 comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MUI 8, the company has promised to roll out an update for Android 7.0 Nougat operating system later this year.

The smartphone lineup is powered by a 4100mAh battery, which as per the company’s claims, comes with 25 percent battery improvement. Featuring a hybrid SIM card slot, the phone supports 4G LTE connectivity along with the usual set of connectivity options.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will be made available in Gold, Silver, Gray, Blue and Black colors. It has been reasonably priced at Rs. 9,999 for the 2GB RAM and 32GB storage variant, while the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant costs Rs. 10,999. The high-end Note 4 variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage costs Rs. 12,999.
