Lately, Samsung has been pressing ahead in the mid-range device segment. The company has coming up with all sorts of exciting, mid-range smartphones. Apart from its J-series of smartphones, the company also has an On series, where the lineup consists of the On5 and On7 smartphones. As per reports, Samsung is now going to introduce another smartphone — Galaxy On8  — to the online exclusive line-up.

While the company has not officially revealed the name of the smartphone, Flipkart has been teasing this new smartphone since last few days. Also, Flipkart’s page for its upcoming Big Billion Days sale has gone and actually revealed the name as Galaxy On8, reports GSMArena.galaxy-on8-teaser-2

Apart from the name of the smartphone, and the fact that the phone will have a full HD AMOLED display, no other information of the phone is available at present. Given that the phone is likely to focus on the mid-range segment, we aren’t expecting much, other than perhaps a larger battery. It also appears like the phone will have a metallic rim that looks similar to what we saw on the 2016 iterations of the Galaxy J 5 and J7.

Samsung came up with the On-series smartphones in order to compete against the hordes of Chinese smartphone manufacturer, who have been making a beeline for India. The latter have been wooing Indian consumers by the dint of there inexpensive, feature loaded smartphones. Many of them — such as Xiaomi — have also been eating into Samsung’s market share through their online-only sale model.

Flipkart’s Big Billion Sale will start from October 2nd and will last up until October 6th, and the Galaxy On8 will probably be announced around the same time.

In related news, Samsung today launched its Galaxy On7 (2016) smartphone in China, along with a new Galaxy On5 (2016) model. The On-series smartphones were first launched last year, and were originally meant as devices especially focused on the Indian users. Let’s see if On8 is able to work its magic upon one of the most bankable smartphone consumer segments in the world.
