Microsoft will be wrapping up its conference-loaded month with a final hardware event in Shanghai tomorrow, i.e May 23. This is the first time the Redmond giant is switching locations and flying out to the Dragon land from Seattle. The most prominent launch of the event is expected to be the Surface Pro, which has already been leaked in full detail.

Adding fuel to ongoing speculations, Microsoft’s corporate VP for Surface and Windows Devices Group, has today tweeted an image of what look like the new Surface keyboards — or Type Covers, if you’d like to extra tenacious about the name. An image of four new keyboards covered in the same ‘alcantara’ material as the Surface laptop has been posted on Twitter with a teasing caption ’30 hours to go’ accompanying it. Also, the keyboard will be backlit as seen in the dim image attached here.

As for what we know about the Surface Pro till date, we got the inside scoop on the simplified naming just last week. This falls in line with the Panay’s comments of Pro 5 coming to the masses only when a substantial hardware innovation has been incorporated into the device. Thus, Surface Pro will be more of an iterative update to the Surface Pro 4, which was initially released around 18 months ago. It even looks familiar to the previous version, click here if want to check out a series of leaked photos.

One should not expect to see exceptionally new hardware features in the Surface Pro. It will still include the same connectors as the original devices, to maintain backward compatibility. There will be a lack of USB-C ports on this device because Microsoft is of the opinion that the market for the said port isn’t mature enough as of yet.

Microsoft will take the wraps off Surface Pro at its hardware event being organized in Shangai tomorrow. Redmond will most likely showcase its updated devices and VR/AR ‘mixed reality’ innovations at this very event, which will be covered extensively right here. Maybe it will show off the prototype ‘holographic’ augmented reality glasses that surfaced on the interwebs last week. Return back for more updates on the event.
