This year, all eyes are set on Samsung and the (explosive!?) devices they bring to the masses. The Korean giant is coming to the Mobile World Congress not to unveil its flagship mobile device, the Galaxy S8 but instead a tablet, most likely the Tab S3. And we have already got our first look at leaked images of the said device.

Prior to its release, the Samsung Tab S3 has recently obtained regulatory approval via Taiwan’s National Communication Propagation Committee. And this procedure has yielded the grainy images of this new upcoming tablet, attached underneath. And they surely give us a clear and complete look at the hardware features of the device in all their glory.

As you’ve already witnessed, the Samsung Tab S3 will retain the expected glass and metal build. We’ve now become accustomed to this outer build, which was first introduced with the flagship device — Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. This is also the biggest change with this tablet, which sports a glossy glass back as compared to faux leather or brushed metal. The dimensions, as can be seen in the images above, are very similar to previous tablet release from Samsung.

But, what’s surprising is the fact that the said device still looks very much like an older 2015/2016 tablet model. I’m saying this because of the massive bezels on the sides as well as top and bottom on the display. This upcoming tablet also supports the trio of buttons at the bottom, something we’ve come to recognize Samsung with. The Korean giant is retaining the home button, which might also double as a fingerprint scanner.

Further, there have previously been rumors that the Samsung Tab S3 will come in two distinct variants. But, the company might plan to just release the Wi-Fi variant at MWC. The rumored specifications of the tablet include a 9.7-inch display with screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. It is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The camera setup on Tab S3 will include a 12MP and 5MP rear and front lens respectively.

This is possibly the best time for Samsung to debut an Android-powered tablet computer in the market when the popularity of iPads is on the decline. And also because Apple has taken over Samsung by shipping over shipping over 78 million iPhones, whereas the latter had to recall more than 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 devices last year.

If this Samsung tablet device packs in some cutting-edge features then it could also go head-to-head with the upcoming iPad Pro lineup which is expected to be launched this March. So keep your eyes peeled for the probable revival of the tablet market.
