Current Pokemon Go players can gear up for a massive upcoming week. Niantic just made the announcement earlier today that 80 Gen 2 Pokemon will be added to the game later this week. These Pokemon come from Pokemon Gold and Silver’s Johto region and include the likes of Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile.
Along with the new pocket monsters, the new update for Pokemon Go will also “encounter gameplay, new Evolution items, two new Berries, and expanded outfit and accessory options for their Trainer avatars.”
Niantic CEO John Hanke mentioned the following in a statement:
Today is a momentous occasion for our team here at Niantic which has been hard at work to deliver these additional Pokemon and build upon the encounter and capture mechanics for our passionate global community of Trainers playing Pokemon Go,
Pokemon Go is a live experience which we’ll be continuing to support and evolve in new and interesting ways for years to come with new gameplay features, in-game and live events, more Pokemon to discover and much more.
Additionally, new Berries will also be included, such as the Nanab Berry (slows a Pokemon’s movement) and the Pinap Berry (doubles the total amount of Candy received if the next Pokemon catch attempt is a success). And as for new character customisation options, the update will be adding more hats, shirts, pants, and even more. Also, new items can be purchased for real money, Niantic said.
In other Pokemon Go news, Hanke recently mentioned that monster-trading and PvP battle features are currently under development and you can expect them soon.
