2017 is just a few days away, and gamers everywhere are now looking forward to Nintendo’s major upcoming event for the Switch supposed to take place on January 12, where their console’s price and release date details are finally expected to be revealed.

Go Nintendo was the first site to officially report that the Nintendo will be bringing Mario Kart 64 to the Wii U’s Virtual Console feature in North America on December 29, today, with the game priced at $10, like all the other Nintendo 64 VC releases.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Mario Kart 64 was technically already a playable title on the Wii U in North America via the Wii’s Virtual Console system. But an official company pushed update for this Wii U title presumably means that it will now be playable on the both the console’s tablet as well as the television.

The upcoming Wii U version of Mario Kart 64 will be supporting up to four players and will feature some of the most popular race tracks in series history, such as the Moo Moo Farm and Yoshi Valley, and the game’s popular Battle Mode will also be included. This will come as especially good news for hardcore Wii U fans, but the timing of the North American release is a bit curious, to say the least.
