In India, Facebook is now planning to place immense focus on the growth of industry-based products for its social platform. Thus, it has brought a former Googler, Pulkit Trivedi, on board as the Industry Director for several verticals. These verticals include e-commerce, retail, travel and financial services, which are some of fastest growing avenues in the country.

The news of Trivedi joining Facebook was outed by the company’s MD of India and Southeast operations Umang Bedi via (of course!) a Facebook post on his personal wall. According to the same, Trivedi will be responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with clients in the country.

Thrilled to welcome Pulkit Trivedi to the Facebook family who along with our teams will strengthen our ability to deliver personalized marketing at scale to clients and agencies in India,

says Bedi in the statement.

Pulkit Trivedi joins the social networking giant after a good five-year long stint at Google India. There he coached high-performing teams to understand a business’ priorities and their technological needs. He worked with sales teams across multiple verticals including technology, e-commerce and others.

Prior to joining Google, Trivedi held the position of market & business development lead at Intel for over seven years. At the chipmaker, he was responsible for developing and executing revenue growth strategies, joint market programs, establishing C- Level relationships with clients. He has also worked as a Product Manager for Redmond giant Microsoft and IBM.

Thus, he was responsible for bringing a lot of business to Google, Intel, and a lot of other international MNCs. And now he brings the same knowledge and experience to the table at Facebook to help it scale further in our burgeoning mobile ecosystem. The company seems to diverting focus on their exclusive features – shops, buy and sell groups, and others for the developing markets.
