Yumist, the Gurgaon-based online food delivery start-up focused on brining affordable meals to office-goers, has roped in Pankaj Sharma as its Chief Technology Officer. He is the ex-Founder and CTO of Langhar, a home chef marketplace model backed by Times Internet.
Pankaj Sharma will be responsible for growing Yumist’s tech team to around 30 members which currently consists of 6 members within the next few months, and rolling out newer initiatives. His immediate action items include releasing the iOS and WP versions of their consumer app within September. The app is currently available only on Android
Founded in 2014 by ex-Zomato CMO Alok Jain, Yumist is a food tech company that delivers homely and delicious meals on demand. It services daily meals market at price ranging from Rs 65 to 95. Ordering takes only few seconds through their mobile app and food gets delivered in under 20 minutes.
They service was initially launched in Gurgaon in Nov 2014 and were in pilot mode until March this year. It recently expanded into Delhi and Bangalore in the last few weeks.
The company claims to have focused on building a strong tech foundation since the beginning. Using a combination of complex algorithms, the company ensures that delivery times and costs are optimized for a strong gross margin.

The two biggest challenges in the marketplace model is quality of food and unit economics. Yumist has overcome these challenges with their unique approach and innovative use of technology.
Yumist raised close to $1 Million in a seed round recently, led by Orios Venture Partners.
