Trip38, a mobile app which manages the entire travel schedule for you during those hectic flight plans of yours, has scooped up a $1 Million seed round from InterGlobe Technology Quotient, a part of the promoter group of IndiGo, and Singapore’s Lantern Capital. This marks InterGlobe’s first investment into India.

Trip38 is an interesting app. Once you download it and feed in your flight details, it keeps a check of everything from you entering the airport to you landing on your destination. It lets you know if there are any of those awesome duty-free shops around you, whether there are some eating joints of your preferred choice in the airport etc.. All in all, it acts as a truly personalised travel assistant.

The best part ? Trip38 works completely Offline ! While data-connectivity becomes a huge expense once you travel abroad, you won’t have to worry about that with Trip38. The app does not use any Wi-Fi or 2G connection, thus enabling to use the app to its full-extent, with access to all of its features, without the need for a data pack.

Trip38 is looking to use this seed round for marketing, customer acquisition and enhancing technology.

The app also helps you in getting checked-in via mobile and hence get your boarding pass. It offers support for over 100 airlines across the globe, and thus gets your boarding pass delivered to mobile in no time.

Trip38 also acts as a reminder for if you ever get close to missing a flight. The app currently offers alerts for check-in, baggage allowance, flight gate/terminal info and flight arrival/departure details. Once you reach your destination, it acts more like a local discovery platform, wherein you can browse through tourist spots, eating joints and more. Trip38 offers information of over 350,000 hotels and 180,000 sightseeing options across the world.

The app claims to have over 25K downloads across 170 countries so far, with its sights set to reach 3 Million downloads in the next 12 to 18 months.

This investment is also important from the investor point of view. This is InterGlobe’s first into India through its strategic business unit, InterGlobe Technology Quotient. If you aren’t sure as to what InterGlobe is, it is the promoter group behind one of India’s leading budget carriers, Indigo Airlines.
