Twitter is rolling out a couple of brand new features with the aim of making its chatbots more expressive, interactive and otherwise more fun to be around. This feature will also help businesses, as it will allow them to create actionable buttons that can then be pushed to prospective customers, who can then be asked to take actions.

The feature is rolling out as part of the enhancements Twitter has made to its direct messaging experience. The company has been attempting to make its platform one which is useful beyond the superficial networking for businesses and towards the same, it ha been announcing a slew of new features this year. This particular feature builds upon Twitter’s attempt to get businesses and users talking inside direct messages.

It is pretty clear that Facebook, which arguably started off this chatbot craze, is no longer the only player in the arena. Twitter’s bots are also pretty capable and let you do stuff like click on buttons to buy movie tickets, join rewards programs or even get in direct touch with humans and get their customer serie associated questions answered.

You can also participate in trivia and quizzes and then share your score with the rest of the Twitter populace. This in turn will induce others to  participate in the same and well, a lot of people could end up participating — thus leading to a significant bit of marketing for the company in question as well.

The buttons can be customized to do quite a lot, including composing a tweet, following an account, or opening a website. Businesses can start off with up to three buttons and then customize the emoji for these buttons as well. These can also be combined with the direct message cards and thus lead to longer conversations between a potential customers, and the user.

The feature is rolling out on iOS, Android, and desktop web starting today, Users willing to deploy them can access them through Twitter’s developer API.
