Huawei has today announced the launch of its new smartphone — Honor 8 Lite. As the name suggests, it is a variant of the Honor 8 smartphone that was launched last year. The Honor 8 Lite was originally launched in China in February this year at a press event.

As far as the design is concerned, the phone looks similar to the Honor 8. But to give it a premium look, the phone has a metal frame and a glass back. Since it is a mid-range device, the dual camera setup available on the Honor 8 is missing here.

The phone comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display with screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by the company’s own Kirin 655 octa-core processor, along with 4GB of RAM. As of storage, it comes 64GB of internal storage and supports expansion via microSD card — that too up to 128GB.

On the optics front, there is a 12-megapixel camera with an LED flash. It also comes with an 8-megapixel front facing camera which features a 77-degrees wide angle lens.

The Honor 8 Lite also includes a fingerprint scanner, which the company claims can help unlock the phone in just 0.03 seconds. As for connectivity, the company offers Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wifi-802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, and a microUSB port.

Honor 8 Lite is the first device to run on EMUI 5.0 out-of-the-box. While the phone has been launched in different RAM and storage variants in China, only the high-end 4GB + 64GB memory variant is being made available in India.

Commenting on the launch, P Sanjeev, Vice President- Sales, Huawei India Consumer Business Group, said,

The Honor 8 Lite is set to revolutionize the sub-20K segment. This phone is ideal for consumers looking for a power packed phone with stunning design. The 8 Lite is a refreshing change from the current selfie offing that run on outdated chipsets; and provides users a device that is awe-inspiring both in looks and performance.

The Honor 8 Lite will be initially available in just one color — Premium Black. However, later this month, the company will roll out a blue color variant of the phone. Priced at ₹17,999, the Honor 8 Lite will go on sale starting tomorrow across Honor partner stores in India.
