Apple could be lagging behind when it comes to giving their smart assistants homes in speakers. Amazon has its Echo, Tap and so on while Google has its Google Home speakers. Well, there are rumors that Apple could soon introduce a smart ‘Siri Speaker’ too, indeed, as soon as this WWDC.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple could well be working on finalizing the designs for the upcoming Siri Speaker. The device is expected to be marketed as a Siri/AirPlay device and even carry some form of Beats technology.
As per leakster Sonny Dickson:
Apple is currently finalising designs for their Alexa competitor, expected to be marketed as a Siri/AirPlay device.
He also said that the device is expected to sport a concave top and have a mesh speaker covering all of it. It will be interesting to see what kind of operating system is incorporated in the speaker though. Dickson mentioned a variant iOS however, its probably more likely to be a spin-off of the WatchOS or the tvOS.
A new OS would be pretty cool, would it be called the SpeakerOS perhaps? Meanwhile, launching a smart speaker would put the company right within the ranks of competitors like Google, Amazon etc. It is a new and growing market and we already know how Apple feels about new opportunities. So yeah, a new speaker could well be on its way. However, we will have to wait for an official announcement to know more about the topic.
