Samsung fans, rejoice! The company has today confirmed the launch date of its latest flagship devices — Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus for India. On 19th of April, i.e the coming Wednesday, both the devices will be officially launched in India during its press conference, Samsung informed through a tweet posted today.

The phones have received massive appreciation in both Korea and U.S, surpassing pre-orders for Samsung S7. So far, Samsung has been able to garner pre-orders for 728,000 units for its new phones and is positive enough to amass 1 million pre-orders in the days leading up to its official availability.

In addition, Samsung’s Mobile Chief DJ Koh has already informed that the sales are better than initial estimates and are prominently higher than the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, last year. In the U.S,  he confirmed that pre-orders are much higher than in Korea and better than Galaxy S7’s last year numbers. Pre-orders in the U.S. took off about a couple of weeks ago.

Calling upon the figures, he told that until Wednesday, the company had sold about 620,000 units of Galaxy S8/S8+ devices in Korea alone. The figure accelerated at an unprecedented rate over the weekend, registering highest ever pre-orders of 550,000 units for a smartphone in Korea. Thanks to Samsung’s efforts towards internal specs and security, such popularity is seen among the region. The clamoring for this stunning smartphone can also be attributed to the lack of a flagship Samsung smartphone from the market — R.I.P Galaxy Note 7.

Both Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus come with the very intriguing Infinity display, giving you a massive 95% screen to body ratio. Both devices feature industry-first 10nm processors (either Qualcomm SD 835 or its in-house Exynos chip) with support for Gigabit LTE. The front camera is an 8MP one, with autofocus, while the rear one is a 12MP dual pixel snapper. Both, the cameras also feature power saving capabilities along with AI assistant Bixby‘s image recognition capabilities. Though both handsets feature quite similar hardware and software specs, they only differ in terms of their screen sizes — 5.7-inch for Galaxy S8 and 6.2-inch for the Plus model.
