Yesterday, Samsung introduced us to its nearly bezel-less smartphones –the S8 and S8 Plus. Starting today, you can now preorder both the devices across all four major carriers in the US, along with BestBuy.
Once you pre-order, you can expect the devices to arrive by April 21st — the date when these devices will be hitting physical brick and mortar stores. As for pricing, this may vary slightly with different carriers.
As for pricing, while AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint are offering the S8 at $750 and the S8 Plus for $850, Verizon is the only offering the two models for $720 and $820 respectively. As for retailers, BestBuy is offering savings of “upto $100”, if you choose to buy the phone from the retailer instead of the dour mentioned carries.
And while you can of course think of buying these phones directly off the shelf, pre-ordering comes with its own set of advantages. There’s a free GearVR that comes with all the pre-orders. Individually, carriers are also offering different promotions. Verizon for example, is offering some lucrative trade-in promotions — cheekingly involving all the latest flagships from various OEMs.
As for a quick spec run-down, the S8 and S8 Plus are largely similar on the hardware and software front, except for the screen size difference. Both come with the very beautiful infinity display, giving you a massive 95% screen to body ration. Both feature industry first 10nm processors, with support for Giagbit LTE. The front camera is an 8MP one while the rear one is a 12MP dual pixel snapper. Both the camera’s also feature power saving capabilities.
The phones also see themselves shipping with ‘Bixby’, Samsung’s very own personal assistant which can do a lot of stuff via voice and video.
