The global fashion brand, Guess is all set to score the wearable-tech space with its latest Android Wear smartwatch collection. This collection will also be launched under the label ‘GUESS Connect’ (rolled out in 2015) in partnership with Google and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. It will run Android Wear 2.0 coupled with timepieces powered by the Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor.
GUESS Connect works with both iOS and Android smartphones providing a plus point to the latest innovation (which has been made possible due to Android Wear 2.0). This new range includes eight styles with five specifically designed for men and three intended for women. For the men styles, the dial will measure 44mm case size while the women dedicated watches will feature 41mm cases.
Guess has been working in the smartphone domain for a long now, though the past releases weren’t as popular due to lack of design aesthetics. Those watches were made in collaboration with Martian and offered poor-quality letterbox dot matrix display embedded into the dials.
The watches will be announced at Baselworld 2017, starting March 23rd and will be launched somewhere around August. They will employ new input methods — keyboard, Smart Reply, and handwriting recognition. Furthermore, Swipe, speak, text, track actions will be controlled with the touch technology.
Speaking about Guess’ new smartwatch in a press release, Elizabeth Thompson, SVP of Global Product and Marketing for Guess Watches said,
This relationship is truly fashion at your fingertips with touch technology in a trendy, versatile way giving consumers fun ways to create their own watch wardrobe all while staying connected – a true blend of fashion and lifestyle functionality.
Though the company skipped mentioning the exact specs for the watch, it did say that over a hundred combinations of the display face, colour, and sub dials will be available. Customers will have an option to customise their watches according to their preferred style and need of the occasion. Moreover, crystals available in various colours such as silver, gold, and rose gold are also enclosed within the dial to complement the overall look.
