Ryan Moore, a partner at Accomplice has led an investment round for professional chat platform VentureApp. The funding also witnessed participation of Boston Seed Capital, Fullstack Ventures, and a cohort of renowned angel investors. Moore will be seen joining the Boston-based startup’s board of directors. He is quoted saying,

VentureApp is the team to build a valuable messaging experience for professionals, and early market signals prove that the platform is well-positioned for aggressive growth and messaging adoption.

The freshly raised funds will enable VentureApp to accelerate strategic growth initiatives as it gears up for a nationwide roll out. It aims to become publicly available after formerly being invite-only.

Also, as it aims to make influencers in the innovation economy more accessible, VentureApp is eyeing valuable partnerships and is seen hosting daily digital Office Hours with top entrepreneurs, investors, and experts from organizations and businesses across the U.S. In addition, its iOS mobile app is in beta testing with hundreds of users.

The company was incorporated to build a marketplace of service providers for small businesses, especially those who are a part of the startup ecosystem. Among the available features, the one that gained attention was the messaging option. It, then, narrowed down to that sole function and went on to make a messaging platform for professionals as its offered service.

Chase Garbarino, co-founder and CEO of VentureApp, mentioned,

From the beginning, our team has been focused on breaking down some of the barriers to entering the innovation economy. Not only do we want to make external business communication more efficient and enjoyable, we want to make the community more accessible, which we believe is imperative to drive economic growth and positive returns for more people.

The official press release, citing a Business Insider report, mentions, messaging apps are increasingly growing faster than social networks. Among the existing ones, LinkedIn is the most popular website for professional connections but there’s not much activity when it comes to messaging or chatting on the platform. The users are not satisfied because of recruiter solicitations and InMail spam, which no longer makes LinkedIn an engaging platform for business connections.

VentureApp wants to makes it easier for users to communicate with immediate business contacts and connect with new partners in their extended business network. With a dedicated messaging platform for continuous business chats, it aims to be the ideal messaging platform for all your professional contacts. You can connect and sync all your email contacts from Gmail, Google Apps, Outlook, and even upload LinkedIn contacts once you sign in.

Till date, several thousand users from over 2,000 companies in Boston and New York, have chatted on the platform including professionals from DraftKings, Silicon Valley Bank, HubSpot, Drizly, Goodwin Procter, among others.
