Fitbit, the San Francisco-based fitness device maker, has launched its Alta HR fitness wristband in the Indian market, for a price of Rs 14,999. As per the company, the tracker is the “world’s slimmest wristband with continuous heart rate tracking”.

The Alta HR will be available for pre-order on Amazon India from March 15 to March 31. Until April 2017, Alta HR will be available on Amazon exclusively, but later, it will make its way to other retailers including Reliance Digital, Croma, Helios, Jumbo, and Vijay Sales.

The company has also launched a Special Edition Alta HR, which will be available in Gun Metal and Rose Gold colors. These special edition models are priced at Rs 16,999. Also, the Classic and Luxe Leather bands will cost Rs 2,999 and Rs 5,999, respectively.

This new Fitbit Alta HR features PurePulse heart rate technology, automatic exercise recognition, sleep tracking and smart notifications. As far as the battery is concerned, it gives users up to seven days of battery life.

PurePulse helps in measuring calorie burn better by providing statistics on non-step based exercise such as yoga and spinning. Users can see real-time heart zones on their wrist and exercise summaries in the Fitbit app.

It comes with Sleep Stages, which helps in understanding users’ sleep quality better by estimating the amount of time they spend in light, deep and REM sleep. Sleep Insights, on the other hand, uses Fitbit data to provide personalized guidance on how to improve sleep for better overall health.

James Park, co-founder and CEO of Fitbit, said,

Alta HR and these powerful new sleep features demonstrate our continued focus on evolving our innovative technology to deliver deeper, more actionable insights to help our users improve their health.

Using Alta HR fitness tracker, users can make a call, text and see calendar notifications on their device. It also allows users to connect with social fitness networks in the world through the new Community tab in the Fitbit app.

While the Fitbit Alta HR starts at Rs 14,999 in India, it has been priced at $149 (roughly Rs. 9,900) internationally. The company has also started taking pre-orders for the device that will become available in early April.
