Every smartphone company is coming up with their new smartphones at MWC and so is Alcatel. The company has taken the wraps off three of its latest smartphones — A3, A5 LED, and U5. These were shown off at the company’s aptly named ‘Lights Up’ event.

The Alcatel U5 is said to be the most affordable smartphone with a 5-inch display and 4G LTE connectivity. The 5-inch screen comes with FWVGA display, having a screen resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. Inside, the phone packs just 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. It is powered by a MediaTek MT6737M quad-core processor, clocked at 1.1GHz.

This one comes loaded with a 5-megapixel rear camera, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It is powered by a 2,050 mAh capacity battery, and the smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

Next up is what the company is calling an affordable smartphone with a 5-inch HD display — the Alcatel A3. This phone is powered by a 1.25 GHz quad-core MT6737 processor, coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM. It has 16 GB of built-in storage and also a microSD card support for expanding it.

As of the camera, there is a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front-facing unit. The phone draws power from a 2,460 mAh battery. And the company has also added a fingerprint scanner as an extra layer of security. The scanner, placed at the back, can also be used to take selfies.

On the other hand, the Alcatel A5 LED is probably the most unique smartphone of the bunch. As the name itself suggests, the phone comes with special LED covers that can be setup to perform a variety of light shows. You can have different patterns and colors for different contacts and type of notifications or you can also set up unique LED cover patterns for a different look.

As of the specs, the phone comes with a 5.2-inch HD display with a 720 x 1280 screen resolution. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core MT6753 processor, coupled with 2 GB of RAM. Like A3, this phone also has 16 GB of onboard storage and supports microSD card.

In comparison to A3, the camera specs on the A5 aren’t impressive. It features an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front-facing shooter. However, the company has included LED flash on both sides. The smartphone is powered by a 2800mAh battery.

While the company has claimed that the phones are most affordable in their segments, no pricing or availability information has been revealed. To be the most affordable phones with such specs, the pricing has to be very low, except for A5 LED, which could be priced a little on the higher side due to the unique LED back cover.
