Talk about selective events. There are actually events that have a selection process. And after you get selected to attend them, they require you to pay a hefty ticket cost as well. Considering that folks flock to these events in enough numbers to make screening necessary, they are probably worth the cost of the tickets. Facebook’s F8 developer conference is one such event and you can now apply for the chance to attend it.

That’s right. Facebook’s annual F8 developer conference is slated to take place on April 18-19, and the company has started accepting entries from interested people.  If you really want to attend the event, make sure that you apply before the 21st of April. Once you get shortlisted, you will also need to keep $595 handy to purchase the ticket.

For the first time ever, the event is taking place in San Jose instead of San Fransisco. The company has cited space constraints as the main reason behind moving the venue of the event from San Francisco (which had traditionally hosted the event) to San Jose.

As for what you can expect to get in return: Well, if you are the casual bystander looking for some fun — not much. However, if you are a developer, the F8 developer conference would be very likely to delight you and leave you in ecstasy. Okay, maybe not in ecstasy but you can expect some brand new product features reveals from Facebook. Developers will also be able to chat with Facebook engineers and discuss projects of their own.

The F8 developer conference is also a way for developers to request specific features so as to help them along a particular project. So basically, developers benefit by getting a heads up on what is coming, besides getting an opportunity to interact directly with Facebook engineers. Facebook on the other hand, interests and educates more developers in its products and of course, gets user feedback.

Meanwhile, you can read more about the events taking place at the F8 conference in the preliminary agenda released by Facebook.
