Group travelling turns out to be quite squabbling relative to renting the mode of travel. redBus, an online bus ticket booking platform eases our travelling experience as the platform has launched a ‘Bus Hire’ feature. The new feature offers customers an option to hire buses, mini-buses and tempo-travellers along with luxury buses and cars for resolving bulk travelling issues.

The said service has been currently launched in 7 major metro-cities in India including Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Ahmedabad. To hire a transportation option, a customer will have to submit basic details of his or her desired trip along with a preferred mode of travelling.

In turn, the bus operators present on the platform will respond with transparent quotations inclusive of all expenditures including base fare, driver charges, tolls, permit fees and taxes. Customers also have the option to view or ask for images of the bus/any other vehicle prior to confirmation. An advance payment of 25 percent of the total quote has to be paid to confirm the booking along with the full payment to be made a few days before the journey sets off.

Prakash Sangam, CEO for redBus.in commented on the launch as,

There was no easy way for travellers to connect with multiple vehicle providers to hire a bus of their choice. With our new Bus Hire product, we aim to simplify the process by providing customers with a customized, transparent and quick method of evaluating and choosing among different vehicle options. For charter bus operators, it opens up another avenue for attracting customers and growing their business.

Currently, the platform delivers services from over 2k bus operators across 100k routes to its customers. Moreover, the company recently acquired a majority stake in Peruvian bus-ticketing platform ‘Busportal’ to aid its global expansion.

The new ‘Bus Hire’ feature will also be extended to other cities after if the feature succeeds in these cities. The new feature further enhances the value of the travelling platform by providing customers a variety of options to choose from. Apart from redBus, two other platforms are also under the ibibo Group — BOGDS, SeatSeller — in order to provide cloud solutions and inventory control solutions to its operators respectively.
