CES has always been a much awaited show for it brings along the latest consumer technology goods. After LG, Samsung has today announced its plans for CES 2017 to be held in Las Vegas from 5-9th January. The Korean giant will be introducing new Smart TV services which includes ‘Sports’,’Music’, and ‘TV Plus’ at the show in order to provide preferred content to customers.
The ‘Sports’ service will provide audience score updates along with notifications relating to game time of their favorite teams. All the information would be displayed in a single navigation window which will be curated through a customized ‘Sports’ user interface. The new service will provide users faster access instead of going through dozens of channels. Further, Samsung is currently engaged in talks with content providers such as NBC Sports, UFC, etc. to scale its sports services.
Won Jin Lee, Executive VP at Samsung Electronics commented on the new services saying,
At Samsung, one of our top priorities is ensuring that we are closely in tune with what consumers want and need from their smart devices and electronics,With that in mind, we continue to innovate our Smart TV offering in order to provide the content experiences that our customers have come to know and expect from Samsung.
Moving forward to the ‘Music’ service, it will allow easy search and identification options to customers on Live TV as well as during television programs. Recommendations related to new songs and top charts will be offered in the ‘Preview’ section of Smart Hub’s user interface for the customers. Moreover, Samsung has partnered with eight music apps which include Spotify, iHeartRadio, Napster, Deezer, Sirius XM, Vevo, Melon and Bugs with services being debuted initially in France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom and the U.S.
The last for the lineup is the ‘TV Plus’ service, which will offer premium content via a new Smart Electronic Program Guide (EPG) solution. The TV Plus service was firstly launched in Southeast Asia and will be made available in U.S. post announcement. The service will be rolled out in Europe in 2017, along with a premium viewing experience.
