As more and more people are opting flexible employment, the market, as a consequence of that trend, is getting obvious investor interest. Today, Mykindofjob, an online portal for job search, has raised $1 million in its seed funding round from angel investors Mayank Shah and Shreyans Shah.

With the new cash coming to the company, the funding will be used to expand its presence in more Indian cities and to increase team size. It will also be used to scale up its technology.

Mumbai-based Mykindofjob was founded in 2014 by Tanzeer Reen and Ankit Bansal. It claims to address the needs of the working segment that wants to work on their own terms. It caters to students looking at internship options to mothers looking for working from home or part time options, to retired people who want to work for 5–10 years but need some flexibility in their jobs.

The company says that it has 800 companies on board, offers interactive web platform where registered users can communicate with each other and prospective employers. Users on the platform range from students looking at internships to retired professionals seeking short-duration projects.

Ankit Bansal, who previously managed wealth of HNI clients at Standard Chartered Bank, started the portal last year. Ankit Bansal, founder of mykindofjob.com, said,

Funds will be used to increase our team size and invest in technology as well as ramp up our geographical presence.

Padmaja Ruparel, president of Indian Angel Network, said,

Investor interest in the online flexi-work space has increased due to the scalability of the model and the fact that more companies are willing to parcel out work as opposed to executing all of it with full-time staff.

The portal will be facing major competition from Naukri.com and LinkedIn. Other similar startups in this space include Careesma,Glassdoor, TimesJobs, etc.
