Like every other smartphone company, Motorola also refreshes its smartphone line-up every year. Keep with the tradition, and after announcing an all new line-up of Moto G smartphones, the company has now unveiled the Moto E3.
As the name itself suggests, Moto E3 is the third-generation smartphone from the company in Moto E series. It will be available from early September in UK.
There are a few anomalies though. For instance, even though the company has already announced this new upgraded smartphone, some hardware details are missing. The phone features a 5-inch HD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. Lenovo, which now owns Motorola, claims that Moto E has a “built-in smudge-resistant screen protector,” though we are not sure how it differs from something like Gorilla Glass.
It is known that the phone has a quad-core processor, but the make of this processor is unknown. Along with 1GB of RAM, there will be a microSD card slot for expanding storage. Internet storage details are also not revealed but we expect it to be 16GB. The previous Moto E smartphone had 8GB of internal storage.
As of the camera department, the Moto E3 houses an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. The Dual SIM smartphone also comes with 4G LTE connectivity and is powered by a 2800mAh battery. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
Initially, the phone will be available in UK for around £99, which roughly equals to $131, off contract. The price is slightly higher than the earlier models but it is still a worthy buy in low-end market.
Earlier, Motorola had revealed its Moto Z series smartphone with its modular-like back-cover accessories to boost various features and functionality of the phone. It has also launched latest Moto G smartphones – Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus in India, at a starting price of Rs. 11,999.
This new Moto E3 also marks the end of Motorola devices with smaller than 5-inch display. Apple’s iPhone SE has already proved that there is still market for a smaller display devices.
While the company has not yet revealed its roll-out plans, we are expecting that the Moto E3 will soon be available in India. Moto E series has a strong grip in the low-end segment which is quite large in India due to a huge number of users shifting from feature phones to smartphones.
However, Motorola has not yet officially disclosed information about the India launch of Moto E3. We have contacted Motorola to know about the India launch. We’ll update this post once we get reply from the company.
