After a series of rumors and leaks, OnePlus has finally launched its flagship smartphone, OnePlus 3 —  as successor to the hugely popular flagship killer, the OnePlus 2 — launched last year. And similar to last time, the OnePlus 3 has been launched through a VR event.

For the first time, the company has ditched the invite system for the purchase of the phone and can be purchased directly. In India, the smartphone can be ordered exclusively via Amazon from 15th June in two colour variants – Graphite and Soft Gold, at ₹27,999.

Buyers will also be offered a few freebies including 12 months of Accidental coverage and 2x data from Idea for 12 months.

The OnePlus 3 comes with a metal body design instead of the Sandstone finish which was used for OnePlus 2. The phone features a 5.5-inch display Optic AMOLED Full HD display with 2.5D screen and ultra thin bezels. To protect the display from scratches, the company has also added a layer of Gorilla Glass 4 on top.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the latest Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm which is clocked at 2.2GHz. OnePlus has bumped up the RAM and now it comes with 6GB of RAM, making it one of the few devices available in the market with such massive RAM. As of storage, the handset comes with 64GB of internal storage, which sadly, cannot be expanded further.

On the camera front, the device comes with a 16MP Sony IMX298 auto focus rear camera with Optical Image Stabilisation and LED flash. It also has an 8MP Sony IMX179 front-facing camera.

As for connectivity, the smartphone comes with 4G LTE support, USB Type-C, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS/ GLONASS. It also support NFC connectivity —  a much needed addition lacking in its predecessors but present in its biggest competitors.

OnePlus 3 retains the physical home button from its predecessor, which also houses the fingerprint sensor. It runs on Android Marshmallow based Oxygen OS. It is powered by a 3000mAh battery along with the proprietary DASH charging that promises to charge the device by 60-percent in just 30 minutes.
