Cartisan, a Bangalore-based startup serving as an automotive services marketplace, has raised its first round of funding from YouWeCan Ventures, the VC firm started by Yuvraj Singh, which has been doing a string of early0stage investments lately. Aprameya Radhakrishna, co-founder of TaxiForSure and Global Founders Capital (GFC) has also invested in this round of funding.

The financial details of the funding round are not made public yet but the investement amount is believed to be in the range of Rs. 3 crore to Rs. 5 crore.

The company will utilize the newly raised funds to expand its business into newer territories, including in the Delhi-NCR region and Mumbai by the end of the current fiscal. It currently operates only in Bangalore.

Founded in June 2015 by Venkat Sreeram, Sharath Murthy, and Pete Bulley, Cartisan is an interactive platform for car owners, catering to all vehicle related service requirements. It is easy to operate, hassle-free, and requires minimum effort. It enables users to select the best solution with minimum efforts.

As of now, there are more than 100 service providers enrolled on the platform. The service providers have been selected based on: type of services they provide, reputation, type of customers, type of vehicles they service, and location, etc. The list includes reputed chains like 3M Car Care and Bosch Car Service. It also has few authorized service stations of reputed car companies enrolled.

Users can book service appointment by filling the details of the vehicle and the type of service. Based on comparison of estimated prices, distance and reviews/ratings, user can book appointment.

Once the service provider accepts the appointment, user is notified via SMS and gets update of every other details such as his vehicle service status, when the work is completed.

The company claims to address one of the major challenges in car servicing business– lack of transparency. This issue is in both –  pricing and service quality levels. Cartisan allows users can make comparative pricing estimates and see ratings and reviews by other car owners.

For YouWeCan Ventures, this is their sixth investment since their launch in April of this year. It has invested in Healthians, Edukart, Moovo, Vyomo and most recently, in JetSetGo – an online marketplace for booking private jets across India.
