Even after the Acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft, a Mexican court ruled on Sunday that Nokia will be responsible to pay to damages owed to Mexican families who purchased faulty Nokia Lumia handsets.
The purchases were made by the customers before the Microsoft purchase of Nokia Devices including the Lumia phones unit, which makes Nokia responsible for the faulty devices. The suit was filed in 2010 by country’s consumer protection agency Profeca.
Profeca also said Nokia Mexico must replace the defective devices or give the cost of the handset to the customer. In addition to it they might also have to pay 20% of the costs customers incurred due to faulty handset. The court also said that Nokia Mexico customers who purchased a handset that had given them problems, can still file a claim against the company, even if one has not yet been filled out.
