Google’s special event in India, where Sunder Pichai is expected to launch the Android One platform is tomorrow, but Spice has already unveiled its android one powered phone on Flipkart.
As per a listing on Flipkart (shown in the image above), Spice has listed its Android One Dream UNO Mi-498 smartphone for a price of ₹6,999. Although the hardware is ancient, the USP will be Google’s backing, as the phone is among the first, to be powered by Google’s Android One.
The Spice Android One Dream UNO comes with a 4.5-inches FWVGA (854 x 480 Pixels) IPS LCD display, and is powered by 1.3 GHz Quad Core Processor from Mediatek along with Mali-400 MP GPU and 1GB of RAM. The phone supports dual SIM (GSM+GSM) and will run on the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Google will be providing 35 GB of free space on Drive along with all Android One phones, including this one.
The phone doesn’t exactly fit in Sunder Pichai’s low-budget, yet powerful category. During Google I/O this year, Pichai promised a phone under $100 with good hardware specifications, seems like this spice phone fails on both the fronts.
The listing has now been removed. Thanks to TechPP for taking the screenshot on time.
