Acer today launched, Iconica A1, a nice, decently priced, mid range tablet. The tablet starts at ₹ 12,999.
Iconica A1 is powered by Android 4.1, though Acer has said, that it will soon update its users with Android’s latest, 4.4 KitKat.
The tablet is powered by a 1.3 Ghz MediaTek quad-core processor with 1 GB of RAM. It comes with 3G connectivity and offers voice calling functionality. In fact, it is this very feature, at such a price, which would make India’s tablet market, even more competitive.
It features a 7 inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600. The only disappointing part, it is a VGA display. The tablet sports a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. It comes with a 3400mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and 3G.
At the launch Chief Marketing Office of Acer India, S Rajendran said,
Over the last year, internet access has received a huge boost and has changed the dynamics of the Indian tablet market significantly. Popularity of the Android ecosystem, coupled with affordable data tariffs and improved reach of service has driven the demand for tablet PCs in the country. Witnessing the growth in demand for this form factor, we introduced a device that offers the functionality of a laptop and the portability of smartphones – the Acer ICONIA A1-713 is an ideal device for consumers looking to enjoy mobile entertainment.
Acer’s Iconica is set to give competition to brands like Micromax, Samsung and DigiFlip pro. Though the pricing is competitive, it will receive stiff competition from Xiaomi, which is soon going to launch its tablet, after Mi3’s resounding success.
