In a launch event held in India today, Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus, announced the launch of the OnePlus 7T, along with a smartTV called ‘OnePlus TV’. The OnePlus 7T starts at a price of Rs 37,999 while the OnePlus TV starts at Rs 69,900. The phone and TV will start selling from 28 September exclusively on Amazon.

Global launch for the OnePlus 7T is scheduled for October 10th. The phones, as has been the case for quite some time, are announced in India first.

The OnePlus 7T has got an interesting screen, with the company claiming a 90Hz refresh rate. By all standards, that is a stellar rate if proven true. The HDR10+ compliant screen sits on a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 2400 x 1080 resolution, a waterdrop notch that the company says is 31.46 percent smaller than the one seen on the OnePlus 6T and a 20:9 aspect ratio.

The design language on the OnePlus 7T is pretty similar to that of the recently announced 7 Series flagships by the company. The 7T features a corning gorilla glass 6 at both the front and the back, with the back sporting a triple camera setup.

The triple setup has a 48 MP primary sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, 16 MP ultra-wide sensor with a 117-degree field of view, and also a 12 MP telephoto sensor with 2X optical zoom and f/2.2 aperture. In terms of software upgrades to the whole camera experience, the phone features a dedicated macro mode to snap a shot from as little as 2.5 centimetres away. It also has Nightscape mode which works on both the primary and ultra-wide lenses. On the front, there is a 16 MP camera for selfies. In terms of video the phone has hybrid image stabilization which combines the phone’s OIS and EIS features to deliver a smooth video.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 7T comes packed with the latest Snapdragon 855+ chipset. OnePlus claims that this chipset brings in 15 percent faster graphics rendering and faster 4G connectivity as compared to the standard Snapdragon 855. Benchmarks will have to show whether that holds true. As far as memory and storage options go, the OnePlus 7T has 8 GB RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. The higher storage variant of the OnePlus 7T will be Rs 39,999. Now whether Android, combined with those bumped up specs is able to match the effectiveness and lag-free experience of an Apple bionic, time will tell.
