At its ecosystem product launch in Beijing, Xiaomi has come up with its long anticipated Mi Smart Band 4 along with a range of other smart home products.
The Mi Smart Band 4 has a 0.95-inch color AMOLED display which makes it the first Mi band to offer an all-color display. The screen size has been increased by 39.9% compared to Mi Smart Band 3 which had a 0.78-inch monochrome OLED display. The smart band has all the standard sensors including pedometer and heart rate monitor. A new sensor which has been included is the Photoplethysmography sensor which detects changes in the blood volume.
It is able to display over 16 million colors and offers 77 customized themes. The ‘smart’ part of the band now has some exciting new features. The smart band introduces a new swim-track mode along with offline payments facility through AliPay. Mi boasts about the fact that the band is the first in the world to be powered by an AI. With XiaoAI, users can now activate the voice assistant that it includes to control other Mi Smart Home products.
For connectivity, the smart band supports latest Bluetooth 5.0 LE which consumes less power and offers better connectivity. The smart band features a 135 mAh battery which can last for 20 days on a single charge. The smart band is available in 5 color variants and is priced at RMB 169, which is roughly $25 (USD).
Mi didn’t stop after introducing the smart band. The company has launched a variety of smart home products which consists of Mi Smart Door Lock, Mi Smart Combo Wash Dryer, a kitchen hood and stove top, induction cooker, roller-ball pen (yes, a pen!) and a translator among others. With a series of IoT products, Mi is set to provide its costumers means to integrate all their products.
Mi AI Translator is a pocket size device which features Oxford and Collins dictionary along with a Chinese dictionary and a few other translation tools. The device supports real-time translation between 34 different languages making it perfect for travelers.
The Mi Smart Door Lock does exactly what it says. Being a smart lock, it can be unlocked with a Mi Smart Band 4 and also, it notifies users of any actions of the door in real-time. It offers six different locking methods.
According to a report published by IDC, Xiaomi is the world’s second largest wearable maker behind Apple. Mi sold 7.5 million wearable devices in the last quarter of 2018. With a market cap of $30 million, Xiaomi is becoming an emerging tech industry in the world. No wonder users love its products which are durable as well as affordable.
