Amazon Audible

Amazon has finally launched its long-awaited audiobook service ‘Audible’ in India. It’s pricing starts at ₹199 per month but the company is offering a free 30-day trial for all users. Some users are getting a 90-day trial offer with free credit for three audiobooks.

The subscribers of Audible in the US get access to three titles (one audiobook + two Audible originals) per month while subscribers in India will be restricted to just one title a month. You can roll over up to six unused credits to the next month and are even allowed to exchange titles.

Apart from the base monthly subscription plan, the company also offers a 6-month and 12-month plan priced at ₹1,345 and ₹2,332 respectively. Amazon Audible members also get 30 percent discount while purchasing additional audiobooks, apart from their monthly credit.

The standalone memberships can be purchased only using credit cards, debit cards, and net banking while the monthly recurring memberships can only be purchased using debit and credit cards. Unlike other purchases on Amazon, there’s no option to pay via UPI or Amazon Pay yet.

The Amazon Audible service is currently listed to be in beta stage. It is offering access to over 200,000 audiobooks and is reportedly planning to “add more Indian & international audiobooks” on a regular basis.

You can also listen to audiobooks through the Audible app on iOS and Android as well as Amazon Cloud Player on Audible’s website. Amazon has also integrated Audible into Alexa, so you can ask the voice assistant to read a book if you have an Echo speaker.
